Glowing, luminous skin might feel like a pipe dream but it’s something that’s 100 per cent possible, no matter what type of skin you have.

Whether your skin is dry, oily, normal or combination, there are steps you can take and ingredients you can rely on to amp up its radiance without the need for makeup.

Read on for the tips, tricks and habits that will get your skin looking and feeling its best – think bright, balanced and beyond glowing!

Tip #1 Cleanse Thoroughly

First things first: proper cleansing is a must. This step is essential for maintaining glowing skin because it removes dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and lead to congestion, dullness or other issues, which goes for all skin types.

In the morning, reach for a formula that will gently remove any build-up from the previous night. In the evening, we’re big fans of the double cleanse to melt away makeup, sunscreen and pollutants. Begin with an oil-based formula like Expert Replenish Squalane Cleansing Oil. It’s great for all skin types as it respects the barrier and provides essential nourishment while lifting away excess sebum to prevent breakouts. Follow this up with your regular cleanser (we’ve listed the perfect options for different skin types below) and you’ll have a clean canvas perfectly prepped for the rest of your routine.

For all skin types: Expert Replenish Squalane Cleansing Oil

For dry, dull skin types: L-Lactic Cleanser

For oily skin types: Glycolic Cleanser 12%

Tip #2 Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation is essential, too, because it helps to remove dead cells that can accumulate and cause a dull, lacklustre complexion. It’s beneficial for all skin types, and works to promote healthy turnover, unclog pores, improve texture and brighten discolouration.

However, it is important to choose the right type of exfoliator for your specific skin type, as over-exfoliating or using a product that is too harsh can be damaging.

If you’re extremely dry or sensitive, reach for a gentle formula like Enzymatic Micro Peel, which removes surface cells while reconditioning the skin.

Normal, combination, oily and mature complexions fare well with Alpha-Hydroxy Acids such as those found in Glycolic Scrub 14%, effective at instantly improving roughness and congestion. Or reach for Expert Refine AHA Glycolic Toner which chemically exfoliates the upper layers of the skin, visibly improving texture, tone and the look of fine lines.

Tip #3 Know Your Actives

One of the easiest ways to fast-track glow is to use ingredients that work with individual skin concerns. Here’s a breakdown of our favourites:

Retinol: A derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol regulates cellular turnover, improving almost every skin concern in the process (think acne, scarring, pigmentation and wrinkles). Because it keeps fresh, healthy cells moving towards the surface, it’s a must-have for anyone wanting to turn up the radiance.

For all skin types: Retinol Serum

For dry, normal and mature skin types: Expert Reveal Retinol Face Oil

Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3, Niacinamide is commonly used to improve skin texture, regulate oil production, refine the look of pores and diminish uneven tone. It also helps to strengthen barrier function, increasing the skin’s ability to retain moisture.

For all skin types: 10% Niacinamide Power Serum

For dry, normal and mature skin types: Expert Restore Niacinamide Replenishing Cream

Vitamin C: A potent antioxidant, Vitamin C helps to protect the skin from environmental stressors such as pollution, leaving it brighter and more radiant. It’s also essential for collagen production, working to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

For all skin types: 10% Vitamin C Super Serum

Hyaluronic Acid: A naturally occurring substance. Hyaluronic Acid is a powerful humectant, which means that it can attract and hold onto moisture, helping the skin to remain hydrated and plump. It also corrects signs of dehydration, including fine lines and crepey texture.

For all skin types: 1% Hyaluronic Complex Serum

Tip #4 Find Balance

Moisturised skin = glowing skin, so it’s essential to wrap up your skincare routine with a moisturiser aligned with your complexion. Not only will the right formula give you a radiant finish, it will also protect your barrier function and prevent dehydration or irritation, all of which contribute to dullness. We have three moisturisers in our line-up for different skin types (find them linked below), and if you’d like an additional boost, add a drop of Multi-Active Oil – Lipids in this nourishing formula will strengthen and replenish while leaving your skin gleaming.

For all skin types: Moisture Defence Normal Skin

For dry, dull skin types: Moisture Defence Ultra Dry

For oily skin types: Moisture Defence Oily Skin

For extra nourishment: Multi-Active Oil

Tip #5 Consider Collagen

Good skin starts on the inside, so our parting words of wisdom are to consider integrating a collagen supplement into your routine. Collagen acts like our skin’s internal support system, but as we age its production slows, leading to facial wrinkles and sagging. A proven ingestible formula such as Collagen Plus can be readily absorbed by the body to support your own collagen production, resulting in skin that’s healthy, plump and glowing. Add a scoop to your morning coffee, oats, smoothie or stir into water!

For all skin types: Collagen Plus
